Popping up on the web

by Michelle Hildebrand

Today I was doing some back-of-the-website SEO work. The stuff that goes on behind the scenes to make sure people can find our website, trust us and join us.

When I googled Marketday Carts - happily we were there. Our listings for Peppermint magazine, Style magazine, the Australian Good Design Awards as well as Urban List. But excitingly for me, we were listed in other places too.

Trendhunter  - is self described as the world's #1 largest, most powerful trend platform unlocking insights with a global network of 406,849 Hunters, billions of views, AI and a skilled team of Researchers and Futurists. Trendhunter welcomes you into its crowded room of 3,500,000+ on the cutting edge. Trendhunter's review of our cart is here. It's rather good!

Then another design platform. Undoubtedly AI is helping these groups find brands like me, but gee it's good to be found. Yanko Designs has an article entitled The Thoughtful Shopping Cart That Organizes, Protects, and Moves With You. They too wax lyrical about the cart saying  "Marketday discovered, shoppers want visibility, separation, and control over their goods. The design responds with a structured, layered system that improves organization while reducing physical and cognitive strain."

My favourite though is a Blog called Be Open.  BE OPEN is a global initiative to foster creativity and innovation, a think tank with a mission is to promote people and ideas today to build solutions for tomorrow. Their article The Future of the Weekly Errand. The whole article is entertaining but I love the first few lines:

'The shopping cart is rarely anyone’s favorite object. It rattles, tips, collapses, and generally reminds us that errands are chores. Yet as cities become more walkable and consumers more design literate, even the most mundane tools are being scrutinized. Why should something we use every week feel like an afterthought? Across the globe, a new wave of designers is treating the grocery run as a legitimate design challenge'

It goes on to compare a few other carts to Marketday and I you can see some serious thinking is going on across the world - particularly in light of cities becoming more walkable.

Whilst it's terrible SEO practice to send you away from my website, these articles are worth a read if you are looking to understand the challenges that Marketday has addressed ,and to see which other designers are in the fray.

It's a wild world out there...but it's great to be part of it!

Until next time,

Michelle
